Mental health and social support are one of the main foundations of the quality of life of the elderly. As they age, many people experience problems such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, or even cognitive diseases such as Alzheimer’s. At Tohid Elderly Rehabilitation and Care Institute, psychological and support services are designed to both help improve the individual’s mental state and strengthen their connection with society and family.
Regular sessions with expert psychologists are held so that the elderly can talk about their concerns, memories, stress, or mental problems. In individual counseling, the focus is on the personal needs and problems of the elderly. In group counseling, the elderly gain a greater sense of empathy and belonging by being in a group. These sessions not only help reduce depression and anxiety, but also increase self-confidence and improve social relationships of the elderly.
Research shows that group activities reduce loneliness and increase longevity in the elderly. For this reason, various programs such as brain games to strengthen memory, friendly meetings and storytelling to create an intimate atmosphere, and cultural and artistic activities to increase creativity and happiness have been designed. These activities are not only entertaining, but also help to focus, mental coordination and strengthen the social skills of the elderly.
Our assistants play the role of a bridge between the elderly, their families and the center. They follow up on the social and family issues of the elderly, provide advice to solve everyday problems and create conditions where the elderly always feel supported. Support is especially important when seniors are facing financial, legal, or family problems.
Families are an important part of seniors’ lives. Many tensions or misunderstandings between generations can be resolved with education and counseling. Family counseling sessions in a nursing home help family members better understand the senior’s mental and physical condition, adapt to behavioral changes caused by diseases such as Alzheimer’s, and develop better ways of communicating and providing support.
